DIY the floppy hat

the inspiration

I think that the floppy hat, suggested by YSL for the past winter,is still a top accessory this season. A dramatic accessory can make an outfit so the hat becomes extremely wide and almost covers the face.
Yesterday i wanted to try to do a floppy hat at home.
The process of making the pattern was very pratical and immediate.
This is just a possible way to do it. You can even take a hat you already own and copy the pattern.
I took a small plastic bag and i worn it like a hat (i know this sounds silly)
then i took the paper scotch and i've started rolling it around my head
this gives the shape of your head to the plastic bag
as you can imagine the use of the plastic bag is critical if you don't want to remove your scalp and end up having a bald hairdo like britney during her mad days.

this is the scotch cap, measure the edge of it

now we have to make the 3D cap flat to be able to cut the fabric

trace a semicircular shape on both side of the cap
cut these shapes and slice them to make them flat

now copy these shapes on a new piece of paper making the borders rounded

now you have the cap pattern
cut 2 semicircular shapes and one rectangular and sew them
for the brim:it's just made of 2 concentric circles
to draw this shape:the smaller circle has a radius obtained dividing the circumference of your head by 6.28(example my circumference is 58 cm so r=58/6.28=9.2 cm)
the bigger circle radius depends on how wide you want the hat.
If you want a big floppy effect try a width of 18 cms so draw a circumference with a radius that is the smaller radius plus the width of the brim R=r+18 (my hat has a R=9.2+18=27.2cm)

now sew this piece of fabric to the cap and if you like you can stiffen the brim with a layer of two of iron on adhesive canvas you've done!

share your thoughs!

Orange

eyeshadow and lipstick:Kiko
blush:shiseido
nail polish:milky

Orange is one of the colors we're going to wear a lot during coming spring.
Why don't take inspiration from our wardrobe and add a touch of orange in our make up bag?
If at first it may sounds crazy but a few touches of orange are a fantastic way to create a bonne mine in a few seconds.
All you really need is just a bright orange eyeshadow you can use as all over.
After applying foundation use the eyeshadow with a big blush to warm up cheeks and eyes.
To keep the make up natural apply mascara with light hand.
Again using eyeshadow you can hightlight lips mixing the orange pownder with a gloss or a lip balm.
The last pic shows an example of how you can sport the look even if maybe model's skin is a little too pale for the color.
If you're not shy then skip the natural look and apply the eyeshadow on eyes with fingers on the mobile eyelid defining well the borders ,you'll obtain a pop contrasted look.

Non siete timide e amate e volete un make up strong?
Lasciate perdere il pennello largo e stendete l'ombretto sugli occhi con le dita sulla palpebra mobile definendo bene i contorni per uno stile pop!

Pedro Lourenco s/s 2011

PEDRO LOURENCO-PARIS SS 2011

PEDRO LOURENCOThe last Pedro Lourenco collection is build of leather around the contrast of two colors.
The cuts give us some suggestions to renew the wardrobe.Trousers in two colours, naked shoulders and half sleeves.
He gives us unexpected nude views:we can see legs under the mesh striped dress or above the overknee boots that look like trousers.

L'ultima collezione di Pedro Lourenco è costruita di pelle e sul contrasto forte di 2 colori.
I tagli ci offrono suggerimenti per rinnovare il nostro guardaroba. Pantaloni in 2 colori, spalle nude e maniche a metà. Inattesi scorci di pelle si intravedono: le gambe si notano sotto l'abito a strisce trasparenti, oppure al di sopra degli stivali sopra il ginocchio che sembrano pantaloni.

Angelo Marani s/s 2011:playful young and fresh

Angelo Marani
I really enjoy this Angelo Marani collection, it's fun and really colorful.
There are really interesting pieces put together and a lot of variety.
Even if the main inspiration of the collection are the 80s we find a really elegant lace 50s swimsuit.

We have the pleated skirt we've already seen in Versus Versace collection by Cristopher Kane.

Then the coloured leopard print in jumpsuits and in the duo crop top with belly button exposed (from the 90s) and shorts.
Angelo MaraniAngelo Marani
It's not over we have leather too in a yellow black dress then leather vests and trousers.
I love the details of borders: the swimsuit seam is scalopped, the black yellow dress has a curvy seamed leather corset and the white corset has a laced up kind of belt sewn over.

Then there are a lot of sequins and oversized blazers.
