Look at these ladies shining in their gold dresses, they're faboulous!
They both wear a one shoulder dress; Sarah Jeassica Parker wears Halston. The design is simple with a wide skirt. At the first look i loved it, looking beetter i can't decide if the fabric looks cheap or not. Shakira is a beautiful mermaid in this shiny gold dress that enhance her figure!

Eye on Plastic

Blazer
What i'm looking for today? Plastic.Right now i'm litterally working with plastic tablecloths to make a plastic trench coat.Do you remember last year topshop transparent coat inspired by Moschino? It was a best seller.

Today i stepped on this picture of plastic boots and i loved them.
Plastic shoes can be tacky but i find these look basic and futuristic. After all the fantastic shoes we walk the street in we can for one time put the attention on nude feet.
Are these comfortable?I don't think so, but have we ever cared?

DIY lab:The candy wrappers purse

A friend of mine went to New York and brought me as a present a coin purse by Nahui Ollin. I had already seen them online but i never had one of these in hand. These bags are made of candy wrappers folded and framed together. They form a line of paper then sewn together to form a thick fabric.
I wanted to find out how were they made and do a bag on my own! I made the one you see above!
We don't have these kind of candy wrappers but we can subsistute them with the paper of our fashion magazines! We just have to pull out the pages and cover them with scotch paper, the wide one to do it fast and then cut 2"x4.5" pieces.
The result will be fun, you'll have a lot of colored squares!
I warn you:to make a bag you'll need a lot of time but the result will repay you!
You can have of variety of final effects based on the paper you choose, you can choose a single color paper and obtain an effect similar to bottega veneta purses!Or a floral one in this case you'll see random pieces of flowers. Animal print, the leopard one will work well too and it's in fashion right now.

Origami fashion part 2

I'm still obsessed with origami fashion. I like the way fabric is transformed in a rigid material like paper(some of the dresses above are made of paper). I like the geometric repetition, the bold effect it makes. They're more like scuptures than dresses. I don't know if they exalt a woman's figure because the dress draws all the attention but i find them inspiring.

DIY lab: the zippy dress

http://www.ecouterre.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/zipper-dress-6.jpghttp://www.ecouterre.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/zipper-dress-5.jpghttp://www.ecouterre.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/zipper-dress-1.jpghttp://www.ecouterre.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/zipper-dress-2.jpghttp://www.ecouterre.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/zipper-dress-7.jpg

Hi sweet readers, today i bring to your attention the zippy dress. The dress you see above is by Sebastian Errazuriz but we can sew our own. This dress is dynamic and can change with your mood or as necessary. You can litterally cut off pieces and have a different style. As you go out the office you can open two or three zips off and you get a shorter skirt for your evening.
This dress has a wow effect but is super easy to do. It does not require any pattern!
To do this project:
  • measure yourself carefully (bust,waist,hips)
  • take your bigger measure (hips) and buy a bunch of zippers of this length. These zippers can be expensive so you'd better buy in bulk on ebay, these are metallic
  • start to fasten the zippers with pins, put just the borders one onto another and start building your "fabric"; follow your measures, you can use a dress you already own as guideline
  • pay attention to leave all the closures at the center back. Make an ideal straight line with them
  • the difficult part is to cut the zippers at the right lenght. You have to cut them and secure the end as needed following your silhouette line (leave enought space to move into the dress).
  • sew the zippers together and you've done
now, you say how i put on this dress? there are zippers everywhere but not where needed.
I would put snap buttons

under the side of the zip that remains attached to the dress when the zipper is cut off. Snap buttons would remain invisible. With this type of closure you'll have to close all the buttons to wear the dress. This can be time consuming but if you don't want a "dynamic" dress on the top but still like the look then you can just sew another zipper vertically and open the dress to wear it easily, you can buy a different zipper for this purpose a all black one that will remain quite invisible.
Have fun with your new dress!

Lanvin at ASOS

Today i wanted to find out how original is the Lanvin collection at H&M. The question is: can we find similar dresses anywhere else if we can't make it the 23th of November?
This is my first find the puffy one shoulder dress. This one is by asos; compared to the Lanvin one is pretty similar, do you agree? You can choose between three colors: mink, coral and black. The price difference is not this big, it costs 30 Euros less than the lanvin one but you can buy it if you can't get the lanvin one

MTV Emas worst dressed: Rihanna ruffle mess

Rihannas Outfits at 2010 EMAs | 1 girl 2 outfits | shapely outfit minidress legs Rihannas Outfits at 2010 EMAs | 1 girl 2 outfits | shapely outfit minidress legs
Rihanna all i had to say is: change stylist!
These outfits have nothing to do with her image. Her hair have been impresentable for a long time and don't help her here either.
She changes from a clown bride dress to a marchesa ruffle mess.
This dress is too much, it's overdone.I think Marchesa exagerate sometimes with decorations trying to look "couture" but this dress just looks ridicolous. Exposed zip in such expensive dress? What were they thinking?
