Velvet clutch bag DIY - Complete tutorial on style.it

Many fall collections are created around the theme of luxury. For Balmain luxury mean heavy embellishments while for Dolce&Gabbana is all about gold embroidery. Designers like Gucci and Lanvin chose velvet. Soft and shiny, velvet feels and looks like one of the most luxurious fabric. Traditionally used by the royalty, velvet will add a touch of elegance to any outfit.
This is not a fleeting trend, Ralph Lauren used velvet again in his fall 2013 collection.
Let's add a bit of velvet in our wardrobe starting from accessories, we'll make together a velvet clutch bag that will still be trendy a year from now.

Uno dei temi più ricorrenti delle collezioni invernali è quello del lusso che Balmain interpreta con incredibili decorazioni e Dolce&Gabbana con ricchissimi ricami dorati. Versace dress DIY: the making

 The basic shape of the dress can be obtained in a number of ways, an easy one can be to use a dress you own (with no stretch) and fits fine as a guideline. If you choose to do this remember to cut the front and the back of the dress leaving enought fabric around the borders (seam allowance) to adjust the fit.

The back of the dress arrives till the armpit.

Ci sono molti modi per ottenere il vestito base. Uno di questi può essere quello di utilizzare come modello un vestito semplice che già avete. Se decidete di tagliare il davanti e il dietro del vestito seguendo questo metodo ricordare di lasciare abbastanza stoffa ai bordi per poter fare delle modifiche quando proverete il vestito.

Il dietro del vestito è stato tagliato per arrivare sotto l'ascella.

I've sewed the front and the back of the dress together.

 This is what i've done to obtain the neckline:

you have to cut a curved piece of fabric

i've used a rope to define the neckline on the dress and around the neck

i've traced this curve over a piece of paper and then adjusted the width

Dopo avere cucito il davanti e il dietro del vestito questo è il procedimento per fare lo scollo:

ho utilizzato una corda per segnare il percorso della stoffa sul davanti del vestito fin dietro al collo

ho ricalcato questa linea su un pezzo di carta e poi ho aggiustato la larghezza del pezzo.

i've cut two curved pieces of satin fabric and i've stitched them together

then i've turned the piece over and pressed it with the iron to make the seam flat

then i've cut the excess border of the dress and inserted the satin neckline into the fluffy fabric

Ho tagliato due pezzi curvi di raso e li ho cuciti insieme da un lato.

 Li ho voltati e ho schiacciato la cucitura con il ferro da stiro

Ho poi tagliato l'eccesso di stoffa dal vestito e ho inserito il bordo in raso.

 

I've then sewed the satin onto the fluffy fabric keeping the seams in the inside

i've finished pressing the satin with the iron

The band on the back is a lot easier, it's just a rectangular piece of fabric.

Ho cucito il bordo sul vestito lasciando le cuciture all'interno e ho finito schiacciando tutto con il ferro da stiro.

Lo stesso procedimento è stato eseguito per la fascia sul retro del vestito tagliando un pezzo rettangolare di raso.

This is the dress i made inspired by the feathered Versace one. Its shape is basic, i put all the effort in making the necklice with satin fabric. I'll show you how to make a band of  fabric that turn. Meanwhile what do you think of the dress?

Questo è il vestito che ho realizzato ispirandomi a quello di piume di Versace. Il modello base è semplice,la difficoltà sta nello scollo fatto in raso. Vi mostrerò come ho realizzato la striscia di stoffa "che gira" dietro al collo. Nel frattempo che ne pensate del vestito?

I capi in pizzo sono estremamente romantici e femminili. Per avere un capo personalizzato decorato con del pizzo basta cucire una dietro l'altra delle trine in pizzo che sono acquistabili in merceria!

DIY inspiration: 2 colors blouse

Two blouses to make one. It's a different look very easy to obtain. Take two blouses in different colors and cut the back in half. Sew together the back again after mixing the colors.


Il mix di due camicette di due colori diversi. Semplicissima da realizzare basta tagliarle a metà al centro dietro e rifare la cucitura dopo aver mischiato le metà!

Before we start talking about today's inspiration i would like to tell you about yesterday.
You may have noticed that the last post is gone along with a lot of comments (i'm really sad of that).
Blogger, the platform that hosts this page had serious problems in the past few days. The service has been suspended and they lost a lot of data. Basically the internet forgot all about our recent activity!
Can you imagine all blogger blogs stuck at wednesday? I know many of you are bloggers too so after what happened yesterday i know we'll remember to back up our blogs more often.
Internet can be evil too: it gives us the possibility to share our thinking with the rest of the world but can even eat all our hours of work in a moment!
The autor panel seems to work properly today and blogger's staff says that the lost posts should appear again during the weekend,i really hope so!

Ok now back to our fashion talk! Before you toss into the trash that shirt because it's stained or cuffs are consumed,wait!
Maybe some parts of it can be reused to craft something cool: an unusual neckline!
Have a look at pictures above: do you have a strapless top you don't wear or a boring bikini top? Sew a neckline onto them using some recycled pieces of your blouse to obtain a fun alternative to straps!
Some other uses of your old shirt:

1. use cuffs as unusual bracelets; have fun wearing them over another shirt to create a contrast or over naked arms
2. use the collar as a necklace,sew beads over it or apply studs
   
3. cut out pieces of the shirt to obtain a sexy neckline

Prima di parlare dell'ispirazione del giorno, vorrei brevemente raccontarvi cosa è accaduto ieri.
Come forse avrete notato l'ultimo post del blog è scomparso insieme a tanti commenti (sono veramente dispiaciuta di questo!!).
Negli ultimi giorni infatti Blogger,la piattaforma che ospita questa pagina ha avuto diversi problemi che si sono tradotti nell'interruzione del servizio e nella perdita di dati,praticamente internet si è dimenticato della nostra recente attività,ha cancellato gli ultimi giorni dall'agenda come se non fossero mai esistiti!
Tutti i blog di blogger sono rimasti bloccati a mercoledì! So che molti di voi sono a loro volta dei blogger e credo che i disservizi di questi giorni ci convinceranno a fare più spesso un back up del blog in modo da non perdere ore e ore di lavoro.
Internet sa essere anche cattivo: prima ci da lo spazio per condividere i nostri pensieri con il mondo poi a volte succede che con un colpo di spugna ci cancella.
Ora il blog sembra essere tornato più o meno alla normalità,stando a quanto dichiara lo staff di blogger i post persi dovrebbero comparire di nuovo nei prossimi giorni.

Ed ora torniamo alla nostra conversazione di moda. State per buttare una camicia perchè macchiata o magari perchè i polsini si sono consumati? Aspettate!
Forse qualche pezzo può essere riutilizzato per realizzare un capo cool con una scollatura inusuale!
Guardate le immagini: se avete un top a fascia o il sopra di un bikini senza personalità allora potete cucirci dei pezzi di camicia e realizzare una divertente alternativa alle bretelle!
Ecco altri usi della vostra vecchia camicia:

1. usate i polsini come braccialetti,divertitevi ad indossarli sopra quelli di un'altra camicia creando un contrasto oppure sulle braccia nude
2. usate il colletto come collana: cuciteci sopra delle perline o applicateci delle borchie
3. tagliatene dei pezzi sul davanti per ottenere una scollatura sexy.

Quanto sono divertenti questi pantaloni a righe! Diverse stoffe rigate sono state combinate per ottenere un mix molto interessante,quasi ipnotico.
Possiamo divertirci a mixare pezzi di stoffe rigate diverse per ottenere vestiti,magliette e gonne.
La bella notizia è che per copiare questo look sono necessari piccoli pezzi di stoffa di ogni fantasia quindi possiamo comprare degli scampoli riducendo al minimo i costi!

The outfit put together for Isabeli Fontana in this Mango ad campain is perfect an how cute is the wrap skirt,it goes directy on my diy list, but i'll add a touch of the fabulous wrap sequinned skirt by Alexander Wang!

Couldn't wait, i had to wear Lanvin now!

I was one of the lucky bloggers who could wear the Lanvin collection before the others, touch the fabrics, take the pictures, have them as a gift, neither Madonna or Jlo could have them in advance.
Ah ah I'm kidding. It's not true. We're not one of those fortunates but we do can wear Lanvin in advance, yes there's a way. Do it ourselves!
Why? Because it's fun! Because we can do it our way!Because it will fit perfectly!
My chosen dress from Lanvin collection is the black little black dress decorated with all those loops

Ok my passion for fashion is eating me and i want to get involved in the process of dress making. I want choose the fabrics, i want to draw patterns, i want to learn as much as i can the way i like it more, discovering step by step, resolving one problem at the time when a question arises. Call me crazy i can't stop myself.
So after a week searching for the fabric (you can find every patterned fabric you like but when you need black no one has it!) i managed to get my hands on a 1.5 meters of black wool a little acrylic in it that gives just a little bit of stretch.
I came home and it was time for pattern making.
This is a classic lbd sleeveless, this basic dress pattern worked fine! It has 4 seams that define waist line.

I've cut more than 60 rectangles of fabric for the decorations, sewn the borders to avoid loose threads, folded and then sewn on the dress

What do you think?I put longer loops at the neck to make it more regular and well refined. I decored the dress on the back of the skirt too, i don't know if the Lanvin's dress has decorations on the back.Personally i don't like those dresses decorated on the front only because they make the dress look like an apron. It looks like they didn't have enought time to finish the dress.
As you can see i left the waist decorations free. That's where you put a wide elastic belt. The final result is a slim looking waist compared to the puffy effect of the decorate dress. I love it!

Now just some numbers to let you figure out if it's worth realize this dress instead of just buying it.
the fabric cost 22 euro (but was a special price, a remainder piece)
(price of fabric will depend of your choice (and shop), polyester is 8 euro per meter, pure light wool 44 euros per meter)
i employed a full day of work to complete it, like 9 hours
Lanvin dress is 129 euro
Now i'm even more curious to see the h&m collection!
