One accessory caught all the attention during Milan fashion week, it's the veil that added appeal and elegance to the look of show attenders. The thin net is back in fashion on Haute Couture catwalks and can be dressed down worn over sunglasses or beanies or dressed up with pulled back hair and sparkly sequins. This look is so easy to replicate that you have to try it at least once. The veil is sold in rectangular pieces and you can fasten it to your hat or your hair with a brooch just a moment before going out. Among these looks which one better suits your style?

Etro - Just Cavalli - Versace

Time for fashion weeks. Get inspired by the coolest looks for spring 2013.

Take a look to Just Cavalli fashion show. You'll discover a contemporary collection for a young cosmopolitan woman. What make this collection so up-to-date is a mix between style and functionality. Clothes are original and easy to wear. The see through shirts are modern and reflect a look that can be considered worldwide cool. I can see a an italian and an american woman both happy to wear this collection.
Get inspiration from the jacket with tulle inserts to update your wardrobe to spring 2013.

 60's and graphical

First from left Moschino - 3 looks from Fay
We're back to the sixthies at Moschino and Fay. They play with graphical effects, vertical lines and black and white contrasts. The color contrast pockets are on almost all Fay's dresses. The pastel colors chosen are all irresistibles, the melon orange is my favorite, energetic and refreshing.

Perforated and Laser cut

Obtain a modern look with perforated, laser cut fabrics. Use a pair of scissors or an knife over a leather garment.
If you're looking for knitting inspiration check out this beautiful sweater from Just Cavalli with very unusual sleeves.

Fashion week looks from the streets

Milano fashion week lands today and some of the biggest names of fashion will walk down the runway. I promise to keep my eyes opened fo you to spot trendy DIY ideas. Today I would like to share with you some streetstyle looks I snapped in Milan (pretenting to be Scott Schuman ) last september during fashion week .

Versace show
Believe it or not, this unexpected pop of color walking down the street is Anna Dello Russo. I know it's not a great pic but she's the fastest fashion vision you can encounter. She was literally running in high heels from a show to another and I wasn't fast enough to catch her.

Milano fashion week: my report part 2

The report from Milano fashion week continues...

Entering Versace palace feels like entering a temple, the sanctuary of the Medusa that stares the invited taking their seats from enlighted arches. There was a lot of electricity and excitement in the air from the upcoming show. The models started to appear on the catwalk and every look was a killer one. This is a celebration of Versace style: studs, colors and prints are mixed together to create a number of breathtaking dresses. The colors are:white, black, mint, yellow and light blue. The theme is the sea so sea stars and seahorses both decorate the cloths. Dresses are really feminine and sexy: they are either tight to follow and enhance women curves or  floaty with deep slits. Models look like both like greek goddesses and like Donatella clones. Most dresses are heavy covered with studs but the effect is not punk or aggressive (except for the black dresses) is more an heavy embellish that give an idea of extreme luxe.
As Donatella Versace appeared there was an ovation and she walked down the catwalk with confidence among the claps.
Omg she has the tiniest waist!...just saying.

Another much awaited show (more crowded than a rock concert!) was Blumarine. The collection is all about flashy, saturated colors and 80s kitsch.  Plastic flowers have the leading role, they cover shoes and entire dresses. Orange, pink, yellow and white are dazzling. The concept of sensuality and its symbols are taken to the extreme: flowers are big and cover most shoes and dresses, lips are used as a pattern, colors are bold and dresses are tight. The 80s are quoted often: there are funny leg warmers, mini motorcycle jackets, neon colors and mini pouches attached to belts! It a colored, funny, excessive collection, I mean, there are furs for summer!
The details I liked more were the rafia trimming onto the skirts and the rafia bags, they really make me think of summer. The plastic flowers are funny too (and so diyable) and I liked them more onto the dresses that on shoes and I definitely wouldn't mind a small jackets covered with flowers.

This is a view of the set of Gabriele Colangelo show. Colangelo is one of the young designer who showed his collection during Milano fashion week. His collection is wearable and artistic at the same time. His dresses look like walking paintings. The inspiration is the sunset at the sea and its colors: white, pink, blue, yellow.
What I like of Colangelo design is that the focus is on new fabrics and materials more than on shapes. This time fabrics are translucent, rarefied or printed, they really look like water.

Milano fashion week: my report:

Today I'm here to tell you I went close to the source of style and fashion, where all the trends come to life: this year I had the incredible opportunity to take part to the extraordinary and glamourous Milano fashion week. I had the chance to attend some of the hottest shows and to snap a few pictures of streetstyle fashion. You can imagine how exciting it was: I had a big smile on my face all the time. Below you'll find some of the pics I took and during the next few days I'll review in detail the shows.
Moschino

Spain is the inspiration, women becomes toreadores with heavy embellished jackets, sensual mujeres with flowers headbands and cowgirls covered with fringes. The hippy, painted leather jacket is a tribute to the playful creativity of Franco Moschino.

The photographers in front of the runway ready to snap the model looks
Here the competion for a good spot is fierce and when the show is about to start they all scream: "get out of the way!" to everyone in their trajectory and "brava!" to the models that esitate a little before turning around allowing them to snap a good picture.

Antonio Marras

still color block but in matching tones

see through: another keyword of the next spring summer

aren't these furry pointy shoes cute? I think they're more wearable compared to those by Alexander Wang fall 2012
a poccible diy: a small piece of fur could be glued onto a clip to create an on/off fluffy embellishment for shoes

Etro

A view of Etro show scenery, a white space interrupted by colored pillows in a variety of different patterns!
Veronica Etro inspiration were the twenties and their flapper dresses but there's nothing retro on the runway, the clean lines of the roaring years are taken to the present and made alive by a countless number of beautiful patterns: colored, beaded and black and white. All the dresses become tridimentional with fringes that move as the models step forward.
