Bona Drag

The DIY inspiration of today comes from these cut out dresses really in the moment. The unespected cut out detail on the ribs is strategic, sexy but not vulgar is wearable by everyone.
I made a selection of these dresses for you, you can click on the images to shop them.
If you have some time we can have some fun cutting out a dress we already own.Try on the dress and in front of the mirror visualize where to cut the dress, on your ribs.Mark with pins where width and the height of the cut, just where it has to start and where to end.
Take off the dress draw a triangular shape, the shape of the part you have to cut, pin it on your dress and cut it out paying attention to leave space for a seam, make sure you leave enought space at the center to keep the dress together.
Refine the cut with a seam.
You can cut the dress only on the front till the lateral sewing or cut it both sides.
You can sew on the borders of your cut a beaded, sequined or studded trim if you like and you're done.

I find very interesting the dress sold at bona drag, the knot detaling on the front.
It looks like this dress can be done with a huge t-shirt dress or a big men's shirt.
Plus for a more parisienne, glamour look you can even make this dress with silk scarfs, even famous brands ones like gucci or hermes turning your diy project in a unique fashion piece.
I'll try to make it and then i'll get back to you with the tutorial!

The clear crystal rain coat DIY

Hello sweet readers today i would like to share with you my lasted diy. It's a rain coat.
It is inspired at the work of Irina Shaposhnikova Crystallographica.

I was amazed by her work but i knew i would not find anything that looked like this in the market, this is her graduation collection so i tried with some good old fashion geometry to make a an inspired design i thought it would make a fantastic clear rain coat,i thought the clear would give the crystal look to it.
Believe it or not it's made with plastic tablecloths sold by meters,i got 2 meters for 5 euros.
I've made a paper pattern, then i've numbered and copied all the pieces, put it on the plastic with paper scotch and then cut leaving seam allowance. Then i've sewn all the pieces together with the paper on and then i've taken off the paper.

I had to make some fixing moving from the 2d pattern to the 3d coat.
It's been an adventure to come to the end because i've started with an idea in mind but in the making i had to find solutions to problems as they presented.
This coat still needs the closure,i still not have in mind the solution to this problem because i don't want to ruin the simmetry of the coat,i'll use maybe a transparent zipper or plastic hooks i'm still thinking.

How chic is pairing beige with tangerine for a fresh spring preview. My favorite match is wide orange trousers with beige/taupe blouse. As you can see above pink makes a pleasant entry in our warm colour palette keeping this outifit seventies inspired and super chic.

Defying cold:furry boots

Yves Saint Laurent, Palais Mohawk suede pumps

YSL Fur detail shoes
scarpe con pelliccia AI 2010-11

Furry boots, yes or no? The mayority of the pics you see above are from Chanel collection.I like them expecially for the heel detail, the frosted heel. I have never worn furry boots before because i didn't want to look like the yeti but this year the designer effort to make them look cool and elegant changed my mind.
Chanel's one are fabulous.
This year i found in shops a funny and clever alternative to yeti boots and it's furried socks.
Before screaming:what are you talking about?Let me explain. These are knitted long socks without the toe covered on the visible part by shaggy or plush fur and they can be worn over a pair of boots you already own turning them in winter fur boots in no time. Your new pair of boots will be chic and elegant and rather cheap. I love them,i would buy a pair in any color!
