Make a statement! Neon lace necklace tutorial

Here's a quick way to make a statement necklace with some lace and a piece of chain. Lace is easy to find in a form of trims or in bigger pieces but you can get creative and cut it out from curtains or tablecloths.
You can buy a big piece of lace and make your necklace quickly or combine smaller pieces together to make a unique composition. I couldn't resist using my neon can of spray paint at the end to make this statement piece pop over summer clothes or even a simple lbd.

Oggi vorrei mostrarvi un modo veloce per creare una collana importante con del pizzo. Potete acquistare il pizzo in merceria, lo troverete sottoforma di trine di altezza diversa o in pezzi singoli più grandi. Se siete coraggiose potete anche ritagliare del pizzo da tende o tovaglie. Potete acquistare un singolo pezzo di pizzo oppure combinare parti più piccole per realizzare una composizione unica. Alla fine spruzzeremo la collana di vernice giallo neon così spiccherà sul vostro guardaroba estivo o anche su un semplice little black dress.

 

Get some lace. Some laces can be easily cut with scissor without unthread. This is also the same lace I used to make the doily lace skirt DIY.

Scegliete il pizzo. Quello fatto in serie può essere tranquillamente tagliato senza scucire. Questo è il pizzo che ho già utilizzato per realizzare la gonna.

 

 Make a composition. Many laces are made with repetive elements but you can cut smaller pieces of it to obtain new elements you can combine.

Create una composizione. La maggiorparte dei pizzi è costituita da un elemento che si ripete. Ritagliando parti più piccole da quello stesso elemento potrete ottenere nuovi elementi.

 

Decide the shape. (This necklace remains a v-shape) and combine the pieces as you like.

Sew the pieces together by hand or with a sewing machine (the zig zag stitch works well).

Decidete la forma (in questo caso una v) e combinate le parti come più vi piace.

Cucite insieme le parti a mano o con la macchina da cucire  (scegliete lo zig zag).

Spray paint. Neon yellow is the color of the season.

Pierce the lace with jump rings. 

Connect two pieces of chain to the lace. 

Add a clasp.

Wear your new statement necklace.

Neon yellow plastic bracelet DIY

I'm sure you believe that I'm a terrible chef since you have seen me boil only plastic or bake body butter. Today the menu is not different we'll boil plastic again. After my strange cooking lessons you'll still be hungry but you'll eventually have a new bracelet.  I found these neon yellow clear spoons at the supermarket and I though they would make nice neon bracelets. Make them is just as easy as it seems. I boiled the water and then I dipped the spoon into it. It became flexible and I bent it with the help of a pincer. I took it out of the water and in no time the spoon was stiff again.  I made the first one thinking of a snake. The second one is made of 2 spoons. I curled the concave part of the spoon tightly to make a spiral. Do you like them?

Penserete che io sia una pessima cuoca visto che mi avete visto bollire solo plastica e burro per il corpo. Vi avverto, oggi il menù non cambia, bolliremo di nuovo la plastica. Certo queste strane lezioni di cucina non vi faranno venir fame ma alla fine avrete un nuovo bracciale. Ho trovato questi cucchiai in plastica traparente e li ho trasformati in braccialetti neon. Realizzarli è facile come sembra. Ho immerso il cucchiaio nell'acqua bollente e l'ho poi piegato con l'aiuto di una pinza. Una volta fuori dall'acqua il bracciale tornerà subito rigido. Ho realizzato il primo bracciale pensando alla forma di un serpente mentre il secondo è composto da due cucchiai. Di ognuno ho arricciato l'estremità concava in modo da formare una voluta.

Maybe the neon yellow Cambridge satchel bag was the most photographed bag last summer. Those who thought that beautiful color was too wild to not go out of fashion were wrong. Neon colors are here to stay and I'm definitely not tired of them. Have been dreaming for a couple of weeks to push the buy button and grab that fantastic neon suit from Asos or a pair of  neon heels while thinking at my DIY options. Yellow is an energetic color I feel the urge to wear as soon as the sun gets warmer and spring comes closer. It's a color that lifts the spirit and recharge our batteries. If you want to give a fresh start to the day don't forget to put some yellow in your outfit. Lemon, lime, neon are all all fashionable shades this spring.
Have fun mixing it with bold patterns and different materials. Speaking of different materials, pu leather,thankfully the much cheaper cousin of real leather, seems to be back on trend and Asos shows us a fun yellow (plastic) jacket that I definitely would like to wear. Today is Women's day and yellow is also the color of  mimosa, the symbol flower of the day. The 8th of March is the launch of Marni for H&M collection a day to celebrate more than hundred years of social activism to achieve equality of genders.

Il giallo è un colore energetico che ci viene voglia di indossare non appena il sole diventa più caldo e la primavera si avvicina. Se anche voi volete un'iniezione di buon umore non dimenticate di aggiungere un po' di giallo al vostro look. Potete scegliere una nuance pastello o un giallo neon, sono entrambe di moda questa primavera. Divertitevi ad abbinare il giallo a stampe vistose o optate per un sofisticato abbinamento di stoffe di tipo diverso. Ad esempio potete orientarvi sul pvc o sulla pelle sintetica, fortunatamente entrambi più economici della vera pelle e tornati molto di moda potranno aggiungere dei riflessi lucidi al vostro outfit. Oggi è la festa della donna e giallo è anche il colore delle mimose, fiori simbolo di questa celebrazione. L'8 Marzo è il giorno del lancio della collezione Marni per H&M un giorno per celebrare oltre cento anni di attivismo sociale per ottenere l'uguaglianza dei generi.

DIY idea: neon chains

Turn chains neon with spray paint can be a good idea to bring old bag handles,bracelets or belts directly in the new season. Put your chains over a newspaper,go in an open place and spray the paint. Let the chains dry,then spray a trasparent sealer to avoid the paint to rub off. We prefere spray paint every time we have to paint a tridimensional object with tiny hidden spots that wouldn't be easy to reach with a paintbrush.


Spruzzare di vernice in colori neon delle catenelle può essere una buona idea per catapultare vecchie tracolle,bracciali o cinte nella nuova stagione. Mettete le catenelle su un foglio di giornale e spruzzatele di vernice in un luogo aperto. La vernice spray è una ottima alternativa al pennello quando dobbiamo dipingere qualcosa di tridimensionale con angoli nascosti. Una volta asciutta una spruzzata di plastificante trasparente ed il gioco è fatto!
