Met Gala DIY inspiration: that safety pin headband

At the annual Met Gala some of the celebrities invited decided to pay homage to the punk themed exhibition "Chaos to Couture" wearing extreme outfits or aggressive studded accessories. I really appreciated the punk touch that Giovanna Battaglia added to her outfit, a safety pin headband. It's a little more agressive than the studded headband I made a while ago but I can't wait to make a similar one.

L'inaugurazione della mostra dedicata alla moda del  Metropolitan Museum, il famoso Met Gala  si conferma il red carpet più prestigioso di New York. Il tema di quest'anno, "Punk:Chaos to Couture" ha ispirato alcuni degli invitati  ad indossare look estremi ed accessori coperti di borchie. Giovanna Battaglia, editor di Vogue Gioiello ha aggiunto un tocco punk alla sua mise con delle semplici spille da balia appuntate fra i capelli. Una decorazione più impegnativa da indossare di un fermacapelli con le borchie ma molto originale. Voi che dite? La indossereste?

Show your bad girl glam : make a punk studded headband

DIY studded headband

 Bad girls are always glamourous. If your style is glam rock this headband is thought to bring a touch of aggressiveness in your everyday look while remaining chic. Try to wear this studded headband with a boucle, chanelesque jacket and a pair of black thight jeans.

This is a very quick diy and I'm going to insert it in a new diy category you can now browse from the navigation bar under the title called 10 minutes DIY.
It collects all my diy tutorials that can be completed quickly so you don't have to wait to wear your new diy must have!

To make this spiky headband you'll need:

• gold metallic headband 1 cm wide (this one is from H&M)
• cone stud beads (yes they're beads! they can be sewed or glued)
• glue

La trovate nella barra di navigazione sotto al titolo e raccoglierà tutti i tutorial che possono essere completati velocemente, così non dovrete aspettare per indossare il vostro nuovo must have fai da te!

Per realizzare il cerchietto avete bisogno di:

• un cerchietto di metallo (trovato a H&M)
• perline a forma di borchia (eh si sono delle perline, si possono cucire o incollare, la versione più comoda delle borchie che si sia mai vista! Cercatele online)
• colla

 

 

Put some glue behind the stud cone beads

 Versate una goccia di colla sul retro delle perline

then glue them onto the headband.
Start from the centre and glue one stud,

then glue 3 studs on each side 

at a distance of 3cm from each other.

e incollatele sul cerchietto metallico.

Partendo dal centro, incollate una borchia.

Aggiungetene 3 per lato distanziate circa 3 cm l'una dall'altra.

To loafer or not to loafer?

Putting together some the items in my shopping wishist I noticed it came out a pretty aggressive combo!  I think leather trousers are a must have for a girl who think at Kate Moss as a style icon. They're usually expensive so why don't get them at a discounted price? I finally found some gold and punk accessories at a competive price and a gold watch I like: it's simple and it has a vintage feel.

This winter we saw loafers becoming more and more popular. Until now when women wanted to take a break from heels, be comfortable but still be stylish they chose ballerinas. Loafers were considered comfortable and young (think at keds or vans) but very casual. A lot of time ago only the pope used to wear custom made loafers (and Michael Jackson),  later on a  few welthy entrepreneurs started to like them and wear them in formal events: it's loafers mania. Loafers have now arrived into women wardrobe. I judged them too casual at first but now I definitely like the rock versions you see above. What about you? Are you into loafers or not?

La mia wishlist di oggetti da acquistare ai saldi è decisamente aggressiva. Beh i pantaloni in pelle sono un must have per una ragazza che considera Kate Moss una style icon. Essendo spesso costosi sono il perfetto acquisto da fare ai saldi. Da Asos ho trovato dei bracciali punk borchiati  e l'orologio dorato : essenziale e dall'appeal vintage.

Quest'inverno abbiamo assistito all'ascesa del trend delle loafers. Prima del loro avvento, quando le donne scendevano dai tacchi, sceglievano di indossare le ballerine rimanendo eleganti e alla moda. Fino ad oggi le loafers erano un scarpa giovane e comoda (come le keds e le vans) ma sicuramente molto casual. Molto tempo fa erano conosciute come le scarpe del papa (e di Michael Jackson), il solo ad indossarle in eventi pubblici, poi alcuni imprenditori lo hanno imitato. Oggi le loafers sono arrivate nei guardaroba delle donne. Personalmente le ho giudicate troppo casual all'inizio mentre ora indosserei volentieri le varianti un po' rock illustrate qui in alto. E voi che ne pensate? Indossate o no le loafers?

La verità è che le borse non sono solo un pratico accessorio per portarci dietro tutto il necessario ma un vero e proprio oggetto di culto e la scelta di un modello o di un altro rivela la nostra personalità. E' così che Marc Jacobs ce la lega addirittura al polso rendendo indissolubile il legame speciale che c'è già tra noi e la nostra borsa.

Less expensive than beads but a lot more dangerous, razor blades have been used to decorate this coat. I find that this is an interesting and diffent look. To copy this look without slashing your hands buy razor shaped pendants you can find in punk clothes shop.

Meno costose delle perline ma molto più pericolose, le lamette sono state utilizzate per decorare questo cappotto. E' un look sicuramente diverso e interessante;per copiarlo senza tagliarvi potete acquistare dei ciondoli a forma di lametta,cercateli nei negozi che vendono abbigliamento punk.

DIY inspiration: Crochet &metal chains

The unexpected mix between hardware and reassuring tradition,metallic chains and crochet.
As you can see chains can be incorporated in a crochet top to make see throught spots and rows or you can crochet the border of a chain (one side or both) to make necklaces,bag handles or belts.
To make a Chanel inspired chain you can crochet one side in pale pink, the other in black.
Metal chains rock but you can use plastic chains too.
