See-through garments are a hit of the season. They're intriguing and with the proper cuts you can show just the right amount of skin without reveal too much.
Your new sheer garments are those you already have in your wardrobe after a quick refashion treatment. Sheer panels can be smart too. You can cut away faults, enlarge clothes that are too tight, renew garments you don't wear because they are so last season.
Get inspired by some of the season hottest pieces and make your sheer garment with a pair of scissors.

Misterious, elegant and feminine, this Dior gown has a romantic allure given by the embroidered lace and it shows legs with nonchalance. In order to get this look you can cut a maxi dress around the side seam. Place the dress flat on table and then, without the need of any pattern, pin the lace/sheer fabric on the cut part and sew it on the dress exactly like I did with the Stella McCartney inspired sheer skirt, you can see the tutorial here.

Like I said before this technique can be used to fix faulty garments. In fact, you can substitute the damaged/stained part of fabric with a sheer panel. You can make sheer or lace sleeves, you can add a sheer panel at the bottom of a skirt to lengthen it or if you dare, you can add a sheer panel at both sides of a dress to enlarge it a bit.

This is a perfect festival look. The corset detail makes this dress unique and the diagonal line makes it fresh. You can use this trick to make a shirt a little bit larger. If you feel that this look is too daring, you can make this detail on the back of the shirt and it becomes instantly more wearable.

You can renew any skirt from your wardrobe. I sewed mine from scratch and I added a curved edge at the waist.

Featured in almost every spring collection, sheer clothes are a season must have. You can choose how much skin to show according to the occasion and your personal style. Get into the season mood and DIY your unique sheer skirt with a pair of scissors and some sheer fabric. Why shouldn't it be called an average sheer skirt? Because with this technique, that I also used in this man shirt makeover , you can cut the skirt wherever you want and there's no need of any pattern, you're free to make the skirt that you want! I'll show you how. I was inspired by Stella McCartney for the curved hems and the color combination. I'm mad for the latest Stella McCartney collection. The fitted and flared dress is amazing. The colored panels are vaguely sporty while the frills make this dress feminine and chic. Browns are well blended together but it's blue that gives that energetic touch to the dress. This winter if you want to wear brights you can choose blue.  I spotted a couple of runway look-alike looks while shopping online. This intarsia sweater is a tribute to Stella McCartney rich embroidered top and this draped Asos dress is clearly inspired by another amazing fall dress: the Gucci velvet number.
Stella McCarney also shows us how well blue, black and white go along together.

Stella MCartney inspired cut out dress with wavy hem DIY

Yesterday we talked about wavy hems and how they are trending this spring. I really appreciated how Stella MCartney incorporated curled hems in her spring 2012 collection. Today I'll show you how to diy a similar dress cutting out one you already own. I will also show you a crochet technique to make a cord I used to decorate the dress: it's called the romanian cord (or european macramè).

Start with a long sleeve dress. I made my dress from scratch because I had a very cute piece of fabric that was perfect for this project. The project is all about cutting out so a dress you already own will be fine.

I put my dress on my diy dress form (or just wear the dress). Highlighted in the pic you can see the part of the fabric you have to cut it out. Start cutting on the shoulders, 1 inch far from the neckline, cut off the cleavage untill the armhole. Also cut off one sleeve.

 Now let's decorate it! Stella MCartney's dress is heavy embroidered along the neckline and along the hem. To imitate this embroidery I made a few meters of crochet cord (but you can also buy a cord or a cute trim). This cord is called romanian cord (or european macramè) and it's easy to do if you know the basics of crochet, click on this link to learn how to do the romanian cord.

Forgive me if i've istantly thought they looked just like tablecloths.
Actually light cotton tablecloths could be used for real to make them.

Let's have a look at the colorful spring that awaits us. This year we can have fun with a lot of prints. I think we can say that for most of them the inspiration is the jungle.Miuccia Prada plays with monkeys and bananas prints paired with colored stripes pieces while Marchesa chooses geometrical motifes in yellow and blue giving to the print an african appeal.
Stella McCartney makes fruity prints and Matthew Williamson creates a series of bags for Bulgari with kaleiscope,nature inspired,prints.
Missoni collection mantains the style of the maison,their knitted prints are always beautiful.
We maybe feel the temptation to mix these prints.
But how can we mix prints with style and avoid a messy overdose?
Which print can be put together?
It's a good idea to make a contrast,to pair different prints together (floral and stripes) less dangerous than to pair similar prints together like 2 kind of stripes (thin and bold).
